Smith booed by Pistons fans in Palace return

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Houston’s Josh Smith, waived earlier in the season by the Pistons, was booed by Detroit fans in his return to the Palace on Saturday night to face his former team.
Smith says he has no hard feelings toward the Pistons and was glad to see their hard work pay off when they won seven straight games immediately after waiving him.
Detroit cut Smith loose in late December, less than a season and a half after signing him to a pricey contract as a free agent. And although the Pistons started playing well after his departure, Smith caught on with one of the league’s best teams and is contributing.
Detroit fans still booed him when he first went to the scorer’s table to check in and when he touched the ball.
