Rondo exits game after taking knee to face
By Tim MacMahon | ESPN.com
Dallas Mavericks point guard Rajon Rondo suffered a head injury in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Orlando Magic and will not return, the team announced.
Rondo will be evaluated by Dallas’ team doctors after the Mavs return home following the game.
Rondo was injured when he was accidentally kneed in the face by teammate Richard Jefferson, who did not see Rondo on the floor as he started to sprint down the court on a fast break.
With blood pouring out of his nose, Rondo stayed down on the court for about a minute before being escorted to the locker room by the Mavs’ athletic training staff.
Without Rondo, the Mavs were missing two starters. Small forward Chandler Parsons missed his second consecutive game due to a stomach illness.
