Nationals now 6-to-1 World Series favorites, according to oddsmaker
After the news hit that the Washington Nationals had signed No. 1 free agent Max Scherzer, we gave you the common sense explanation about why Scherzer makes the Nats the World Series favorites. With plenty of win-now pressure to boot.
It turns out that a top sports oddsmaker agrees. Online sportsbook Bovada has made the pitching-rich Nats its World Series favorite, vaulting past the Los Angeles Dodgers, whom Bovada had given the same odds as the Nats the entire offseason until now. The day after the World Series, both teams were favored at 15-to-2. They stayed the same after the Winter Meetings.
But now the Nats are listed at 6-to-1 while the Dodgers are 8-to-1. Here’s the entire list of World Series odds from Bovada.
Los Angeles Dodgers — 8/1
Boston Red Sox — 12/1
