Pete Rose on ballot for Bobblehead Hall of Fame
That power is yours, baseball fans of the world. With one simple click of the mouse or touch of the screen, you can decide Pete Rose’s fate as a future Hall of Famer.
OK, so maybe it’s not that Hall of Fame. We already know how the voting works there and have spent a good bit of time dissecting it. It’s actually the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, which is coming to Milwaukee in 2016.
As a part of their initial promotional efforts, they’re leaving it up to everybody else to decide whether or not this classic Pete Rose bobblehead should be the very first one officially inducted.
his lifetime ban for betting on baseball will be lifted and the door will finally be open for him to join the real Baseball Hall of Fame. For now, though, this looks like his quickest path to a Hall of Fame while wearing his Cincinnati Reds uniform.
Of course, the real Pete Rose is still hopeful that somehow, someway,“We want to settle this debate which has been going on for over 25 years right away for the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum Co-Founder and CEO Phil Sklar said in a statement on Wednesday. “We have found no evidence of any wrongdoing by any of the Pete Rose bobbleheads, so we want to let the public decide whether a Pete Rose bobblehead should have the honor of being the first inducted into the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame.”
Obviously, this is more or less the bobblehead folks having fun with the circumstances surrounding Rose’s Hall of Fame predicament, and honestly that’s a pretty clever way to create some buzz for their new endeavor.
They even got what appears to be an authentic quote from Rose himself.
When asked about the honor of being the first bobblehead ever inducted to the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame, Rose replied, “Being the only of anything is a big deal.”
Voting on the fate of the Pete Rose bobblehead runs through Friday. At this point, it’s looking like a landslide, but it’s still your duty to vote.
Voters are also encouraged to contribute to the Bobblehead Hall of Fame’s Kickstarter campaign, which will help fund the museum’s launch. Every little bit will help get this project off the ground and on to our bucket lists.
