Last Minute Decisions: Injury Questions: Week 19
Friday, January 09, 2015
Welcome to Divisional Round Weekend of the National Football League, Fantasy Division. There’s still fantasy playoff leagues and Daily Fantasy Games to be played, so don’t even think there’s no way to play fantasy football!
As a last minute primer be sure to read Evan Silva’s look at every game in his Matchups column.
Saturday, January 10th
4:35 PM ET
Ravens at Patriots
* Left tackle Eugene Monroe (ankle) is listed as questionable. It appears he will be able to go. As long as he can stay in the whole game it would be a nice bump for Joe Flacco’s pass protection.
* Julian Edelman (concussion) is listed as probable and will play. With the tight-lipped Patriots it was impossible to know without a doubt if Edelman had been cleared yet, so now we know.
8:15 PM ET
Panthers at Seahawks
* Philly Brown (shoulder) is listed as questionable after getting in limited practices Thursday and Friday. He’s shaping up as a game-time decision. When he went down last week Brown was replaced by Brenton Bersin, who is the most likely candidate to take his reps, but Stephen Hill could also be called up as a situational deep threat if needed.
* Defensive tackle Star Lotulelei suffered a broken foot in the Wild Card win over the Cardinals and will miss the remainder of the playoffs. This is of course a huge loss for a Panthers defense that has been extremely good in the second half of the season. Marshawn Lynch should have a little more breathing room.
* Jermaine Kearse (hamstring) is listed as probable. Paul Richardson had been getting his snaps, but will now come in as the #3 receiver.
* Tony Moeaki (calf) is listed as questionable after not practicing all week and is a game-time decision. Cooper Helfet will back up Luke Willson if Moeaki is held out.
Sunday, January 11th
4:40 PM ET
Colts at Broncos
* Julius Thomas (ankle) is listed as probable after practicing in full each day this week. A recent Denver Post story suggested Thomas’ ankle still isn’t 100 percent, but with an extra week of rest and now full practices, it’s hard not to believe he is healthy enough to contribute.
* Linebacker Brandon Marshall (foot) is listed as questionable after getting in limited practices all week. He has played extremely well this season and would be a nice boost to the already solid Broncos’ defense.
1:05 PM ET
Cowboys at Packers
* Middle linebacker Rolando McClain (concussion) has been cleared to practice Friday and is expected to play against the Packers even though he is listed as questionable. This is a big positive for the Cowboys who need all the help they can get against the Packers potent offense and McClain has been their best defensive player this season.
* Right end Jeremy Mincey (concussion) was also cleared to practice Friday. Pro Football Focus gave him a top-10 grade this season, so his presence will be welcomed back.
* Aaron Rodgers (calf) is listed as probable after getting limited practice in on Thursday. He took Friday off to rest, but will again practice on Saturday. His mobility will most likely be limited, but coach Mike McCarthy insists that since the injury is to Rodgers’ “left leg — not his “plant” leg — he should be able to drive the ball normally.”
* Defensive back Davon House (shoulder) is expected to return for Sunday’s game after fracturing his scapula in Week 14. House will help boost their pass defense as they try to slow down Dez Bryant.
