Behold the Great American Ballpark in sandcastle form
With the calendar flipping to 2015, that technically means baseball season is ahead of us and not behind us. It really is just a technicality though, because we’ve also entered that long offseason stretch where the hot stove cools a bit as we impatiently count the days until spring training. The dog days of winter, if you will.
But just because we’re still seven weeks away from pitchers and catchers playing long toss early in the morning, that doesn’t mean we can’t fantasize about the season ahead. Or better yet, it doesn’t prevent us from creating our own vision of the season ahead.
One Cincinnati Reds fan with a creative mind and unusual skill has done just that. While on the beach in Naples, Fla, Ryan Hans created a sandy replica of the Great American Ballpark, which may be more aptly named the Great American Sandcastle.
Take a look.
More like amazing work. The layout here is spot on, but it would appear Hans has had some good practice. Just one day earlier, he constructed a smaller scale ballpark with the Cincinnati skyline as the backdrop.
Awesome.
After seeing Hans’ work, we readily admit we’re jealous of his talent.
After seeing these photos, we also don’t mind admitting that we’re jealous of all the time he’s spending at the beach. Listen, Ryan, if you need any assistance or moral support on your next sand project, don’t hesitate to call us.
