Baseball world mourns the death of ESPN anchor Stuart Scott
The sports world lost one of its most respected voices and strongest inspirations on Sunday when Stuart Scott died at age 49 following a long battle with cancer.
Though the legendary ESPN host and SportsCenter anchor was most often associated with the NFL and NBA, his impact on sports broadcasting and sports in general was felt and appreciated across the board. This generation of athletes and fans alike grew up listening to Scott’s signature calls and phrases, all of which became popular on the playground, on the sideline and in the dugout.
He changed the game on many levels, which on its own is an amazing legacy to leave. But never was Scott’s impact stronger than as we watched him courageously battle cancer. For seven years, Scott fought his battle in front of the world and never backed down. He never stopped living. His passion never waned.
The outpouring of support from all over the sports world reflects the power of his courage. That includes many from the baseball world, who took to social media on Sunday morning to reflect and honor his legacy.
