Jacobo Mateo Moquete, a police spokesman in the Dominican Republic, confirmed Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro was being questioned Saturday in connection to an incident at a club in the Dominican Republic on Friday. Here is the announcement Moquete made on Twitter:
ATTENTION: Some sports media have called me inquiring about Major League Baseball player Starlin Castro. At the moment it is in the Office of Montecristi, where prosecutors questioned him regarding several injured yesterday at the Ocean club where persons involved were very close to him. At the moment I have no more details.
Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes adds the incident was a shooting that left six people injured.
Castro was questioned and later cleared of any involvement in another nightclub shooting in the Dominican Republic earlier this month.
The Cubs have not yet commented on Castro being questioned, according to David Kaplan of CSN Chicago.
