Reminder: The Cubs won the 2015 World Series in ‘Back to the Future 2’
Great Scott! Or maybe we should make that … Great Jon!
The Chicago Cubs agreed to sign Jon Lester for $155 million on Tuesday night, adding to their deep pool of young prospects. People on the North Side will definitely be excited about the Cubs’ chances to compete for the playoffs. While it might be entirely too early to be thinking about the Cubs winning the World Series in 2015, The Stew at least feels obligated to remind everyone that the Cubs won the 2015 World Series in “Back to the Future 2.”
Besides creating another piece of Internet content about the future as told in “Back to the Future 2,”what good is this information? What does it have to do with the actual Cubs from MLB? Nothing … or maybe everything.
Note: The Cubs traded for catcher Miguel Montero on Tuesday. He just happens to have the same initials as Marty McFly, the main character in the “Back to the Future” movies. And new Cubs manager Joe Maddon, well, the comparisons to BTTF’s Doc Brown are obvious, right? They’re both mad scientists.
If you’re a Cubs fan and the Lester signing has your pumped up about the Cubs’ chances in 2015 and this “Back to the Future” tidbit has amused you, then we’ll point out one more thing. The glorious nature of the Internet has made it so you can buy a “Cubs 2015 Cubs World Series Champions” T-shirt with the “Back to the Future” font.
If Joe Maddon were really as smart as people say, he’ll have a box full of these to hand out to players in Spring Training.
