The San Francisco 49ers are a 7.5-point favorite as they travel to face the Oakland Raiders in Week 14. Do I take them with one of my five SuperContest picks? Who else should I consider?
Welcome back for my weekly picks! I’m in an ugly tailspin, just trying to keep my head above water. Good times! I went 5-11 ATS last week, and put together a blah 2-3 performance in the SuperContest. I am sliding down the rankings, and now find myself at 32-33 on the season in the contest.
For those that missed the previous explanation, I’m taking part in the LVH SuperContest, with OddsShark covering my entry fee. There are over 1,400 entries, and my goal from day one has been to finish closer to first place than last place. You can check out full standings here.
This weekend, the San Francisco 49ers travel to face the Oakland Raiders. The SuperContest sets their lines Wednesday afternoon, and they installed the 49ers as 7.5-point favorites. I am skeptical about picking the 49ers, but under Jim Harbaugh, the team has been quite strong on the road. The 49ers are 2-4 ATS in their last six games, but they are 11-3-2 ATS in their last 16 road games.
Heading into the week, I told myself I would take the 49ers if they were favored by anything under double digits. Do I stick with it against the Raiders? The 49ers defense can handle the task, but this offense is just plain bad right now. I think they can put up the points thanks in large part to the defense setting them up as needed, but it is still a sizable roll of the dice with this offense.
Other than that, I’m not entirely sure of my other picks. I’m intrigued by the Steelers on the road, and also the Chiefs down in Arizona. The Cardinals could hold their ground, but with Andre Ellington banged up, I’m not sure if they have enough on offense to get the W. The Vikings at home against the Jets is an interesting one, and the Broncos at home are always an interesting consideration. What do you think?
