NFL picks against the spread: Week 13 SuperContest picks start off poorly! – Niners Nation
I return for another round of SuperContest picks. I am 30-30, and going in the wrong direction. Maybe it’s time to start fading my picks.
We are back for another week of Fooch’s Super Contest picks, and the time has come to consider fading my picks. I put together my worst performance of the season last week, with a 1-4 effort. I was feeling real good about my pick of the Patriots over the Lions, but everything else just sort of went to crap. I should have learned from the Chargers struggles to just stay away from them.
The 49ers are off on Sunday following their ugly performance against the Seahawks. I had considered picking the 49ers, but instead picked the Cowboys over the Eagles. That clearly worked out so well. I went with some old standbys this week, so we’ll see how it goes. Another bad week, and I might start to try and fade myself!
Just a reminder, the folks at our partner site, OddsShark have staked me in a pick ’em contest in Las Vegas. I pick five games each week against the spread, taking on over 1,400 people. The top 30 win money. Going into this I simply wanted to finish closer to the top than the bottom. I’ve slipped to the bottom of the standings, so we’ll see if I can improve this week.
Here are my picks for Week 13, with home teams in caps.
DALLAS COWBOYS (-3) over Philadelphia Eagles: So, we’re not exactly off to the best start!
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-9.5) over Washington: This is entirely about the Washington defense being absolutely abysmal (how about that 49ers offense last week!). The Colts lost Ahmad Bradshaw, but I just see no way the fightin’ Snyders can hang with the Colts in this one. Andrew Luck and that offense could hang 40 on them. And if the Colts can get up over 30, there is no way Colt McCoy is able to keep Washington close….right?
Cleveland Browns (+2.5) over BUFFALO BILLS: Back to the well with “my Browns.” I did not pick them last week, but we are back again. The Bills are coming off a big win over the Dolphins, but I like the Browns as a road dog. They have covered three such games this year, so I’m going back to them with hopes of getting a fourth such cover.
ST. LOUIS RAMS (-6.5) over Oakland Raiders: The Raiders finally managed a win, and honestly, I’m glad it happened. If they went into that 49ers game without a win, wouldn’t it have been fitting for the 49ers to yack that one up, given how they’re playing this year? The Raiders are not a good football team, but who knows what to expect from them week to week. I picked against them this week because I just see a let-down game. And with that spread coming in under a touchdown, I am inclined to go with the Rams.
Arizona Cardinals (-2.5) over ATLANTA FALCONS: The Cardinals got hammered by the Seahawks last weekend, but I have zero faith in any NFC South teams. The Falcons only wins have come against the NFC South, and I’m betting on that continuing.
Here are my remaining picks:
