(11:54 am ET) Free agent reliever Sean Burnett is not expected to sign with a team during the offseason, SB Nation reports Monday. Burnett, 32, underwent Tommy John surgery in June and is expected to start throwing off a mound in spring training in hopes of signing with a team at some point during the 2015 season.
Nelson Cruz agrees to four-year, $57 million deal with Mariners

(11:13 am ET) Free agent outfielder Nelson Cruz has a deal in place with Mariners, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. He has agreed in principle on a four-year, $57 million contract.
The deal was first reported by Dominican newspaper El Caribe. ESPN reporter Enrique Rojas added Cruz will receive a $1 million signing bonus and will travel to Seattle to undergo a physical Wednesday.
The 34-year-old outfielder, who was suspended 50 games in 2013 for his connection to the Biogenesis scandal, hit a career-best 40 home runs in 159 games last season for the Orioles. The three-time All-Star also had hit .271 with a .525 slugging percentage, .859 OPS, 32 doubles and 108 RBI in his only season with Baltimore.
In 52 career games at Safeco Field, Cruz has a .234 average, .440 slugging percentage, .749 OPS, nine home runs, 11 doubles and 19 RBI.
Report: D-Backs might not trade Trumbo despite Tomas signing

(10:46 am ET) The Diamondbacks are not sure if the addition of Yasmany Tomas will result in the team trading first baseman Mark Trumbo in the offseason, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports Monday.
General manager Dave Stewart indicated earlier in the month before the acquisition of Tomas that Trumbo will play right field in 2015. However, there’s a chance that Tomas will begin the season in the minors.
Trumbo was limited to only 88 games in 2014 due to a stress fracture in his foot. He slashed .235/.293/.415 with 14 homers and 61 RBI over 362 at-bats.
Pirates designate 1B Gaby Sanchez for assignment

(10:21 am ET) The Pirates have designated first baseman Gaby Sanchez for a assignment, following a deal Pittsburgh made to acquire second baseman Sean Rodriguez from the Rays, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Sanchez appeared in 123 games last season and slashed .229/.293/.385 with seven home runs and 33 RBI over 290 at-bats.
Pirates acquire Sean Rodriguez in trade with Rays

(10:21 am ET) The Pirates announced Monday they acquired infielder Sean Rodriguez from the Rays in exchange for a player to be named later and cash considerations. Rodriguez was designated for assignment Nov. 26.
Rodriguez hit .211 with a career-high 12 home runs, 13 doubles and 41 RBI in 96 games in 2014. For his career, he has hit .225 with a .372 slugging percentage and .670 OPS in 624 games for the Angels and Rays.
Report: Mets expected to release one player at non-tender deadline

(9:51 am ET) The Mets are expected to release one player at Tuesday’s non-tender deadline, according to ESPN. Team insiders said it appears Eric Young is an option to be released, while beleaguered shortstop Ruben Tejada is safe.
Young is projected to earn roughly $2.25 million in arbitration. The Mets feel they can get comparable production from a fifth-outfielder type for a lower salary, according to sources.

The Mariners and Blue Jays are also possibilities for Morales, who hit .218/.274/.338 with eight home runs and 42 RBI in 367 at-bats between the Twins and Mariners last season. The Royals are on the hunt for some to fill the role vacated by Billy Butler, who signed with the A’s earlier in November.
