Jack Edwards has some thoughts on Bruins not playing Black Friday afternoon (Video)
The Boston Bruins have played an afternoon game on Black Friday for a very long time. Beginning in 2011, the game doubled as NBC’s Thanksgiving Showdown, first facing off with the Detroit Red Wings and then the New York Rangers last season.
On Black Friday 2014, the Bruins did play, but not in their usual afternoon timeslot. Instead, they hosted the Winnipeg Jets at 7 p.m. ET, winning 2-1 in overtime. Good thing they won, otherwise NESN play-by-play man Jack Edwards would have been even more fired up for his rant against NBC and the NHL for taking away a Boston hockey tradition.
This rant actually began earlier this month on Twitter during the Bruins-Maple Leafs “Rivalry Night” game on NBCSN:
We half-expected Jack to be dressed as a pilgrim or even a turkey while delivering this rant, given his history.
