Indianapolis Colts fear broken ankle for Ahmad Bradshaw
According to multiple reports, the Indianapolis Colts fear that running back Ahmad Bradshaw has suffered a broken ankle. Tests are expected to confirm their suspicions later Monday.
Bradshaw is a key weapon for the Colts’ offense, and it was clear that the New England Patriots focused on taking him out of the equation in Sunday night’s 42-20 victory.
The onus now falls on Trent Richardson to carry the load for the Colts, which is a scary proposition considering his limitations as a receiver and runner.
Can the Colts possibly ask Andrew Luck to throw even more? He currently leads the NFL in attempts per game with 43.2 (the next highest is Drew Brees at 41.7) and took a few solid hits Sunday against the Patriots.
Bradshaw might be able to return by the end of the season, or perhaps be ready for the playoffs. But either way, this is a tough blow for an offense that already had its limitations with diversity in the backfield before Bradshaw went down.
