MLB stars get first win in Japan behind Morneau
Fresh off being no-hit by Samurai Japan, the Major League Baseball “All-Stars” got back on track Sunday in the Tokyo Dome, winning 6-1. The game was tied in the third inning when Justin Morneau clubbed a three-run shot to give the MLB a lead it wouldn’t relinquish:
Jose Altuve and Yasiel Puig were 3-for-4 in front of Morneau, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI. Puig had two doubles while Morneau homered and doubled. Aside from those three players at the top of the order, MLB only managed two hits — an Evan Longoria homer and a Carlos Santana single.
Chris Capuano worked five innings, allowing one run on four hits, to get the win.
The final game of the tour in Japan for the MLB team will be Tuesday at 5 a.m. ET.
