Last Minute Decisions: Injury Questions: Week 11
Friday, November 14, 2014
Welcome to Week 11 of the National Football League, Fantasy Division. While the injury list seems pretty extensive in length, we have a pretty good idea of who’s in and out as Sunday draws closer. A few starting running backs are likely to sit out (Giovani Bernard, Arian Foster, Ronnie Hillman), while a couple others will return from injury (Ryan Mathews, Rashad Jennings). Those situations and all other fantasy relevant injuries are outlined below.
As a last minute primer let Pat Daugherty answer your lineup questions with his Week 11 Rankings. For sleepers, let Nick Mensio fill you in on the best targets. And always be sure to read Evan Silva’s detailed look at every game in his Matchups column.
Editor’s Note: Rotoworld’s partner FanDuel.com is hosting a one-week $2,500,000 Fantasy Football Contest for Week 11’s games. It’s only $25 to join and first prize is $300,000. Starts this Sunday at 1pm ET. Here’s the link.
1 PM GAMES
Vikings at Bears
*Jerick McKinnon practiced in full on Friday, and is expected to play. He’s a decent start against Chicago’s suspect defense.
*Kyle Rudolph is listed as probable. He garners immediate “plug and play” consideration against a Bears’ defense that ranks dead last vs TE’s.
*Martellus Bennett was a limited participant in practice this week, but he’s listed as probable and should be good to go.
*Brandon Marshall is also listed as probable, but it remains to be seen if the ankle injury will limit him in any capacity.
Texans at Browns
*Arian Foster is listed on the “wrong-side of questionable” for Sunday’s game. If he sits out, as expected, Alfred Blue will get the start vs a shaky Cleveland run defense.
*Jordan Cameron (concussion) will not play this week, and he could be out awhile.
Seahawks at Chiefs
*Marshawn Lynch (calf) is listed as questionable. He practiced on Friday, and reports suggest he should be good to go. Check back for confirmation early on Sunday.
*Jamaal Charles (elbow, shoulder) is listed on the injury report, but fully expecting to play without restrictions.
*Anthony Fasano (knee) is a game-time decision. If he can’t go, Travis Kelce would likely see more playing time (and subsequent targets) as a result.
Falcons at Panthers
*Devin Hester (ankle) and Harry Douglas (foot) are listed as questionable, but both are expected to play on Sunday.
*Jonathan Stewart (ankle) and DeAngelo Williams (foot) are probable. This limits the fantasy appeal for both of them, as a running-back-by-committee approach will likely ensue.
Bengals at Saints
*Giovani Bernard (hip) has been ruled OUT for week 11. Jeremy Hill will see bulk of the carries against New Orleans, and he can be considered a low-end RB1 with the extended workload.
*Khiry Robinson (arm) and Pierre Thomas (shoulder) are listed as OUT. Mark Ingram will resume lead-back duties.
*Mark Ingram (shoulder) is listed as probable himself, and makes for a great fantasy option (vs Cincy’s 31st ranked run D) due to the aforementioned injuries of Robinson and Thomas.
Buccaneers at Redskins
*Doug Martin (ankle) has been ruled OUT. Charles Sims and Bobby Rainey will likely split carries in his stead, with Sims having higher upside of the two.
*Josh McCown (back) is dealing with a minor injury, but expected to be a full-go at Washington.
Broncos at Rams
*Ronnie Hillman (foot) is OUT. C.J. Anderson will likely get a reasonable compliment of carries, but Montee Ball (probable) and Juwan Thompson plan to factor into the mix as well.
*Austin Davis has been benched, and Shaun Hill will start in his place. He’s not recommended for fantasy purposes, and this move shouldn’t scare anyone away from targeting Denver’s defense.
49ers at Giants
*Frank Gore (hip) is probable. He’s a solid option against an NYG defense that ranks 2nd to last in fantasy points allowed to RB’s.
*Rashad Jennings (knee) is listed as probable, and set to return after missing several weeks. Rumors are circulating that Jennings will receive at least 60% of the rushing attempts, with potential for more all goes well.
4PM GAMES
Raiders at Chargers
*Ryan Mathews (knee) is probable to return this week vs Oakland. He was a full participant in practice, and he should see 10-15+ carries against a soft Raiders’ run defense.
Eagles at Packers
*Brent Celek (ankle) is probable, but he’s not someone to consider for fantasy purposes, even following a nice outing last time around.
Lions at Cardinals
*Calvin Johnson (ankle) is probable, participating in practice on Thursday and Friday. He’s a fantastic option against Arizona’s suspect pass defense.
*Reggie Bush (ankle) is officially listed as questionable, but latest reports say he’s unlikely to play. Check back closer to game time, but Joique Bell and Theo Riddick would see a boost in opportunity if Bush can’t go. However, a tough draw vs Arizona’s stout run defense dampens the fantasy appeal for either.
*Andre Ellington (foot) is listed as probable. He was limited in practice this week, but he’ll start and see a full complement of carries on Sunday.
SUNDAY NIGHT
Patriots at Colts
*No significant injury situations to monitor.
MONDAY NIGHT
Steelers at Titans
*Delaine Walker (concussion) has been ruled OUT.
*Dexter McCluster (knee) was limited in practice and is considered questionable.
