Curt Schilling spent his evening arguing about evolution on Twitter
Here’s one thing you probably know about the Internet already, but it’s always worth repeating: Getting into arguments with people never ends the way you hope it will. The person on the other end, never says, “Oh, wow, you’re right. I’ve totally changed my beliefs now.”
And when you’re arguing about things such as religion and the origin of life, forget it. A better use of your time is trying to levitate your dog using the Jedi Mind Trick.
None of that stopped ex-MLB star (and recent cancer beater) Curt Schilling from taking on all comers in a Twitter debate about evolution Wednesday night.
While Clayton Kershaw and Corey Kluber were enjoying their new Cy Young awards, Schilling was trying to strikeout the theories of Charles Darwin.
This is the tweet that started it all:
People on Twitter started to fire back at Schilling immediately. Eventually, he settled in for the night and started retorting. Give him credit for backing up his beliefs, even if it took up a good four hours of his evening. Here’s a sampling of Schilling’s tweets.
Most of Schilling’s time was spent sending responses to folks who challenged him, from regular ol’ people all the way up to ESPN co-worker Keith Law. Most of it was good natured and friendly, so at least there’s that.
There’s a whole lot more on his Twitter feed, enter if you dare. Take this writing as a CliffsNotes version — and as yet another reminder that there are literally thousands of other things you should do at any given moment instead of arguing on the Internet.
