Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong makes a spectacular one-handed catch for a TD (GIF)
Arizona State jumped out to a big first-quarter lead against Notre Dame thanks in part to its defense and thanks in part to a spectacular touchdown catch by receiver Jaelen Strong.
Strong ran a crossing route from the 13-yard line to the end zone and turned just in time to see the pass from quarterback Taylor Kelly. He reached up with his left hand and made a one-handed catch for the score.
He even bobbled it a little bit while trying to secure it, but he had possession heading to the ground.
The score was a result of a fumble by Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson following a sack by Tashon Smallwood. Smallwood picked up the ball and returned it six yards. The touchdown made the score 10-3.
At the end of the first quarter, Arizona State led 17-3 after turning two Notre Dame turnovers into touchdowns.
