Doc Rivers puts Clippers on blast after Warriors blast them
If the Clippers didn’t realize it before Wednesday (and, come on, they should have), they do now: The Warriors still hate them and are still capable of beating them badly.
The Dubs smoked LA in Oakland 121-104 in their first meeting of the season, and it wasn’t that close. Golden State led by as many as 29.
Clippers coach Doc Rivers made sure to remind his club that That. Just. Happened.
“I saw a beautiful game from one team,” Rivers told reporters, per The Associated Press. “(The Warriors) are a better team right now and by a lot.”
The Warriors, who have developed a nasty rivalry with the Clips, are 4-0 under new coach Steve Kerr. The Clippers, the defending Pacific Division champs, are 3-2.
Rivers was particularly peeved that his team wasn’t nasty.
“I’ve never been in a game where a team scores 65 points and we have one foul,” Rivers told reporters, per the Los Angeles Times. “That, to the core of me, bothers me to no end. … That’s as soft as you can probably get in a game. One foul at halftime? Are you … kidding me? That’s as bad as I’ve seen.
“Forget what we’ve got to fix,” he added. “That, over anything, just told me that we weren’t very competitive and that bothers me.”
The Clippers’ first opportunity to regain their edge will be Saturday’s home game against the Trail Blazers.
