North Carolina’s Romar Morris suspended for DWI arrest
North Carolina RB Romar Morris was suspended for North Carolina’s game against Pitt on November 15 after he was arrested for DWI.
“We hold our players accountable for their actions and when a player makes a poor decision, he must face the consequences,” North Carolina coach Larry Fedora said in a statement. “I’m hopeful Romar will learn from his mistake and make better decisions in the future.”
Per the Charlotte Observer, Morris was arrested at 4:12 a.m. Sunday morning near his residence by Chapel Hill police. He was later released to a “sober person.”
He has a court date of November 13.
Morris is North Carolina’s fourth-leading rusher this season and is tied for second on the team with four rushing touchdowns. The junior has 44 carries for 176 yards plus 17 catches for 146 yards. In 2013, he had 296 yards and five touchdowns.
He was a three-star recruit in the class of 2011 according to Rivals and the No. 12 all-purpose back in the country.
