At 20 feet, 6 inches long, the world’s longest golf club is ridiculous
Believe it or not, in the last three months, several men have held the rather obscure Guinness world record for swinging the world’s longest usable golf club. Michael Furrh became the third man to hold the record in the span on Monday.
At Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington,Texas, Furrh managed to swing a golf club measuring 20 feet, 6 inches, hitting a golf ball 63 yards to earn a certified Guinness world record. Furrh shattered the previous record, set last month by serial world-record holder Ashrita Furman, by 23 inches.
Furrh has held this mark once before, first earning the record in 2012 when he swung a club measuring 14 feet, 2.5 inches in length. That record was surpassed by Danish trick-shot artist Karsten Maas, who held the mark at 14 feet, 5 inches when the 2015 edition of the Guinness World Records was published.
At the rapid pace this small arms race is taking shape, next week the world’s longest usable club will probably be 500 feet.
