Akron giving away tuition at Tuesday’s game against Bowling Green
Four students will have a chance to win free tuition for the spring at Akron on Tuesday.
The school is giving three students who attend the ZIps’ game against Bowling Green Tuesday night the opportunity to win free in-state tuition and another student is eligible to win via social media.
To be entered into the drawing, the students at the game must use the student Zip card. And here’s where it gets detailed, as Akron really wants them to stay and pay attention for the entire game. Though given that the Zips are hosting a mid-week primetime game, we don’t necessarily blame the school.
The school will announce the name of two students during each media time out in the first three quarters of the game. When a student hears his or her name called, he or she has 10 minutes to check in at a station within the stadium
From then, the three winners will be announced between the third and fourth quarters. WInners will received the equivalent of in-state tuition for the spring 2015 semester.
The social media winner will be drawn from students who register their Twitter accounts with Akron’s rewards program and use the #ZipsBlackout hashtag. Yes, it’s a blackout Tuesday night, so all fans are encouraged to wear black to the game.
Here’s hoping Akron’s promotion is executed better than Iowa’s free tuition one was. Iowa had to modify the promotion because of state raffle laws when it announced that five students who signed up for student tickets would be given free tuition. After wrangling, it was subsequently opened to all students.
