Eagles’ Nick Foles heads to locker room with injury; Mark Sanchez in
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles was taken to the locker room after taking a sack on the final play of the first quarter against the Houston Texans.
Foles was sacked by Texans outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus and appeared to come down hard on his left shoulder.
The Eagles punted on their next play, but Eagles backup Mark Sanchez warmed up as Foles was being taken by trainers and team medical staff to the locker room for further evaluation.
Sanchez hit Jeremy Maclin on his first pass of the game — and his first regular-season throw since Week 17 of the 2012 season, with the New York Jets — for 52 yards. Five plays later, Sanchez found Jordan Matthews for a touchdown pass, opening the game 3-for-3 passing for 69 yards.
Elsewhere, Jets fans cringed.
