Sao Paulo goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni has broken Ryan Giggs’ world record for most victories with a single club.
Ceni, 41, played in Sao Paulo’s 3-0 win over Goias EC on Monday night to break Giggs’ record of 589 victories with Manchester United and set a new total of 590.
The shot-stopper – who is set to retire in December – is also the highest-scoring goalkeeper of all time with 123 goals, having taken both free kicks and penalties throughout his career, though Giggs is ahead on 168.
The former Brazil international made 16 appearances for his country, and has played for Sao Paulo since 1992, scoring 21 goals in the 2005 season.
Giggs is the holder of a number of other records, including having the most Premier League appearances, most Premier League assists and most Champions League appearances.
