Blue Jackets can survive Bobrovsky injury
The hits keep coming for the Blue Jackets.
Already short Brandon Dubinsky, Nick Foligno, Nathan Horton and Boone Jenner, Columbus has also lost goalie Sergei Bobrovsky for one-to-two weeks with a broken finger.
Sergei Bobrovsky headed to IR (fractured finger suffered in practice yesterday). Curtis McElhinney starts tonight for #CBJ.

The Blue Jackets have battled through their injuries to a .500 start, but are mired in a mini two-game losing streak. Any new injury isn’t good and Bobrovsky has been one of the NHL’s best goalies for the past two seasons. Going to Curtis McElhinney is a steep drop off.
But here’s the bright side for Columbus — it’s only for two weeks. While it certainly would make a difference over a long period of time, the fickle nature of goaltending means the Jackets could play McElhinney for a few weeks and see very little drop off, especially since Bobrovsky has started the season slowly (.907 even-strength save percentage).
Plus if McElhinney really struggles, the team could give 21-year-old Anton Forsberg, who is off to a solid start in the AHL, a shot.
And if everyone sticks to their time tables, there’s a chance the Jackets could have Jenner back around the same time Bobrovsky returns, with Dubinsky following soon after. Horton, unfortunately, is another story.
