Leeds sack Milanic after just six games
Leeds’ managerial circus returned on Saturday evening as owner Massimo Cellino parted company with Darko Milanic after just 32 days in charge.
Milanic six-game reign – the same as predecessor David Hockaday – ended almost immediately after the 2-1 loss to Wolves at Elland Road.
“I want to apologise to the supporters, they deserve better results,” Cellino said on the club’s Twitter page, which also posted a short statement to confirm Milanic’s sacking.
Leeds sit 18th in the Championship, five points above the relegation zone, after they squandered a one-goal lead to lose at home to Wolves for their sixth league defeat this season.
Milanic failed to win any of his six matches in charge, having been appointed on September 23.
Neil Redfearn, who bridged the gap between Hockaday and Milanic with 10 points from 12 as caretaker, will resume temporary duties on Monday morning.
