Report: Roger Goodell forced to testify at Ray Rice’s hearing
Roger Goodell is going to have to answer questions regarding the Ray Rice situation, and he is going to have to do it under oath.
According to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio and ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL commissioner has been ordered by former federal judge Barbara S. Jones to testify at an appeal hearing for the former Ravens running back.
The NFL Players Association will appeal Rice’s indefinite suspension at the hearing, which is scheduled for Nov. 5 and 6. If the appeal is successful, Rice could return before the end of the season.
Goodell’s involvement in the hearing means that if pressed, he will have to answer questions about things many believe the league is covering up, which could potentially be disastrous both for the Goodell and the NFL at an organizational level.
