Jamaal Charles running inspired, rooting hard for Royals too
The 2014 Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated when the 2014 Kansas City Royals are in the 2014 World Series.
The Chiefs, coming off a bye, upset the Chargers in San Diego to return to .500 on Sunday. It’s hard not to think the Royals rolling through the MLB playoffs without a loss inspired KC’s NFL team to win a game it needed.

Jamaal Charles was track star turned speedy running back at the University of Texas. He won’t be helping the Royals steal bases against San Francisco with his fleet feet, but the Chiefs’ new all-time leading rusher has them on his mind.
“I’m not a big baseball fan, but when it comes down to the end of the postseason, I’m definitely staying tuned to it,” Charles told Sporting News. “I’m more tuned to it than anything because the Royals are in their big game, their Super Bowl.”
Charles hasn’t even minded seeing a lot more of a blue hue (not Chargers’ powder or Broncos navy) in town to clash with the Chiefs’ bright red.
“I’m very excited for the Royals, but just as excited for the community,” Charles added. “Everywhere you go here, it’s Royal Blue. We’re definitely paying attention. They’re showing that anything’s possible.”
It’s almost game time! Can’t wait to cheer on the @Royals…make #KC proud!

The Royals haven’t won a World Series since 1985, but it’s now been 45 seasons since the Chiefs won their one and only Super Bowl. It took a huge rally by the Royals to get in and then win in the playoffs this year. Charles and the Chiefs would like to ride the baseball club’s momentum to go from 3-3 to a second straight playoff berth. Upcoming games against the Rams, Jets and Bills should help.
“The fans here couldn’t be happier here because they’re in the World Series and we won, too.”
