Jamal Crawford stars in new documentary ‘J.Crossover’
Los Angeles Clippers guard Jamal Crawford is the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the year, a devastating ball handler, an amazing bunch scorer and is the NBA record holder in 4-point plays.
Crawford is also a native of Seattle, and his efforts in giving back to the community have now been documented in a video by Ballislife.com.
The video goes through a little bit of Crawford’s history, starting at Rainier Beach High School in SE Seattle. It highlights his decision to enter the 2000 NBA Draft, which Crawford revealed he only entered to be able to stay in Seattle a few more months before returning to Michigan, where he played in college.
“I put my name in the draft because we all had summer school [at Michigan],” said Crawford. “I was like, ‘If I put my name in the draft that means I don’t have to go to summer school and I can stay at home another month or month-and-a-half.'”
He went No. 8 overall to the Cavaliers and was later traded to the Chicago Bulls.
Crawford has been a big part of the Northwest basketball scene and his efforts at Rainier Beach have been well-documented. The Clippers’ swingman runs a Pro-Am that has seen the likes of Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant, among others.
The documentary is an interesting look at an NBA player’s life outside of the league, and Crawford’s story is especially interesting given his impact in Seattle and the love for roundball that exists in the Pacific Northwest.
