Report: Harvin and Wilson didn’t click, led to Seahawks trade
Among the many problems that have surfaced since Percy Harvin was traded from the Seahawks to the Jets on Friday, is that the volatile wide receiver “was not clicking” with quarterback Russell Wilson,” CBSSports.com reported Sunday morning.
Harvin also had “difficulty” trusting those around him, was not fitting into the Seahawks offense in his first full, healthy year there, and refused to go back into last week’s loss to the Cowboys, the report continued.
“It just wasn’t a fit, on a lot of levels,” the story quoted a source as saying. “And it didn’t look like it was going to get better.”
The story referred to a statistic that has surfaced in the days since the trade: by most measures, Wilson’s passing efficiency was lower when Harvin was on the field than when he was on. That was unlikely to change as the Seahawks sought to get other receivers involved, who would be used in more traditional ways than Harvin was.
Wilson will be up for a contract extension after this season, and the money the Seahawks save on Harvin will help them re-sign their quarterback, the report says.
