One-Week Fantasy: FanDuel 2 Million Tournament
Saturday, October 18, 2014
Welcome to Week 7 of the National Football League Season, Fantasy Division. This week we have a big two million dollar tourney at FanDuel to shoot for. If you can get 17475th or higher, you win cash monies. Below is my entry this week. Take a look-see and good luck!
Editor’s Note: Rotoworld’s partner FanDuel.com is hosting a one-week $2,000,000 Fantasy Football Contest for Week 7’s games. It’s only $25 to join and first prize is $200,000. Starts this Sunday at 1pm ET. Here’s the link.
QB Aaron Rodgers $9,700 CAR@GB
Rodgers has thrown 15 touchdowns to just one interception this season and that includes two down games at Seattle and at Detroit. He now gets a Panthers’ team that over the last three weeks has allowed opposing quarterbacks to complete 84 of 111 passes (76%) for 939 yards (313 yards p/g) and 7 touchdowns (2.3 TDs p/g). He’s expensive, but the other top quarterbacks have tough matchups and nobody is playing better than Rodgers.
RB Ben Tate $7,300 CLE@JAC
Tate put together back-to-back strong games since returning from his injury and now gets another nice matchup against the Jaguars. Cleveland will run the ball, that is a given. They have run the ball 30.2 times per game, second in the league and lead the league with 1.6 rushing touchdowns per game. The Jaguars have one of the worst offenses in the league statistically and the Browns are favored to win this one and should hit that 30 rushing attempts mark fairly easily. Tate had two touchdown runs inside the 10-yard line last week and another should be in store this week.
RB Justin Forsett $6,200 ATL@BAL
Forsett leads the league in yards per carry with 6.4 and is averaging 87 total yards per game on the season and 101.6 over the last three games. He’s also found the end zone three times. He is also very much a dual threat; having caught 23 passes this season. The Falcons have been great at one thing this year and that’s giving up yardage to running backs on the ground and through the air. On average they’ve allowed 190 total yards and 1.8 touchdowns per game to opposing running backs, which are both highs for the NFL.
WR Jordy Nelson $8,900 CAR@GB
Nelson is almost impossible to dislike this week or any week for that matter. He is averaging 11.3 targets per game, 7.1 receptions, and 105.3 yards and has five touchdowns in six games. There is no doubt who Aaron Rodger’s #1 target is and that means fantasy goodness. The Panthers have given up nine touchdowns to wide receivers this year and were just beat bad by Mohamed Sanu, Alshon Jeffery, Steve Smith and Antonio Brown. You’re up next Jordy.
WR Golden Tate $6,700 NO@DET
Last week Tate was poised for another big game with Calvin Johnson out, but he came up short with just 44 yards against Minnesota. The good news though is that he caught seven passes on 12 targets. And his price also dropped as a result of that down game. He now gets to take on a Saints defense that has been subpar this season, giving up 1.4 touchdowns to wide receivers per game and the third most yards per game with 192. Megatron looks like he’ll be out again and Tate should lead in targets by a good margin.
WR Davante Adams $5,200 CAR@GB
Davante Adams is my punt play/stack with a great quarterback play. Last week he was targeted the second most of the Packer’s receivers and just missed getting into the end zone. He’s now been targeted six times in the red zone on limited playing time. He’s the no doubt #3 in Green Bay and with no great tight end to take away looks, he should see enough targets to be valuable.
TE Jordan Reed $5,400 TEN@WAS
The Titans have given up five touchdowns to tight ends this season with four coming in the last three games to Clay Harbor, Jim Dray, Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener. The other touchdown they gave up was to Anthony Fasano. So you don’t have to be Jimmy Gronkowski to score on the Titans. Reed caught eight of 11 targets for 92 yards in his first game back from injury. I like him in this matchup more than many of the higher priced options this week.
K Justin Tucker $5,400 ATL@BAL
I had some extra cash and didn’t like any “upgrade” at the other positions. I could see going up to Peyton Manning with the 49ers defense hurting or Jordan Cameron against the Jaguars, but I feel good about this lineup, so I’m going to throw my extra cash at Tucker, who faces the Falcons who have allowed the most field goal attempts in the league this year.
D Buffalo Bills $5,000
The Bills run defense hasn’t allowed a rushing touchdown to a running back all season and have the best yards per attempt allowed average with 2.7. A rejuvenated Tom Brady did just smoke them last week, but before that they had been okay against the pass. I’ll give them a mulligan there, especially with rookie Teddy Bridgewater coming to town. They should be able to stifle the run enough to get Bridgewater throwing and that could mean turnovers.
