Florida State OL coach Rick Trickett to miss Notre Dame game for health reasons
Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett will not coach against Notre Dame Saturday night because of health reasons.
“Florida State assistant head coach/offensive line coach Rick Trickett will not be at the game tonight because of a personal health issue, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher announced on Saturday,” Florida State said in a statement. “Trickett has coached Florida State’s offensive line since 2007.”
“Per NCAA rules, David Spurlock will assume the offensive line coaching duties.”
Warchant.com said Trickett “was checked out for a heart issue” Friday night and his long-term health is not in jeopardy. Spurlock is a graduate assistant for Florida State. He played on the Seminoles offensive line and was a senior in 2011.
Trickett is the father of West Virginia QB Clint Trickett. Clint Trickett led the Mountaineers to an upset of No. 4 Baylor on Saturday. Clint Trickett transferred from Florida State following the 2012 season. Before coaching at Florida State, Rick Trickett coached at Auburn, LSU and West Virginia.
No. 2 Florida State hosts No. 5 Notre Dame at 8 p.m. ET.
