Chili coveted by Yanks, others as hitting coach
Chili is the hot name in hitting coach circles.
Chili Davis interviewed for the batting job with the Red Sox Friday after interviewing for the same role with the Yankees the day before, meaning there could be something of a bidding situation between the two great rivals for Davis.
The Rangers also are interested in Davis, who could also return to the A’s as hitting coach.
Davis has ties to both the Red Sox and Yankees, having worked for Boston as a minor-league hitting instructor in the past and the Yankees as a DH on their late-90s championship teams.
