Bucs assistant in charge of players’ ‘personal growth’ arrested for DUI
I’m not sure what more can go wrong in the first year of the Lovie Smith era with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but apparently we’re not done finding out.
Isaiah Harris worked with Smith for five seasons in Chicago, and was brought to Tampa Bay this year to be the director of player development, an assistant who “focuses on the personal and professional growth of football players through guidance and support,” according to his page on the team site. Many teams have a person like this on staff, to advise on issues like continuing education and career transition. A life coach, in a way.
Harris was arrested for a misdemeanor DUI charge on Thursday morning, according to the Tampa Bay Times. That’s not a good look for anyone, especially the director of player development brought over by Smith.

The Times said Harris “refused to have his blood-alcohol content tested after being stopped by the Tampa Police Department at 2:06 a.m.” He was booked and released at 11:06 a.m. on a $500 bond, the Times said.
The Buccaneers had no immediate comment. Tampa Bay, which is on a bye this week, is 1-5 in Smith’s first year as head coach.
