Pacman Jones to Cincinnati Bengals kicker Mike Nugent: ‘Do your job’
Both the Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers likely walked away from Sunday’s 37-37 tie feeling like it was a loss.
Panthers head coach Ron Rivera didn’t try to win the game on fourth-and-1 behind their best player, Cam Newton.

That allowed the Bengals a chance to win at the end of overtime with a 36-yard field goal, but kicker Mike Nugent pushed it right.
Bengals corner and returner Adam Jones called out Nugent for the shocking miss.
“We were in a perfect position to win the game, two seconds left on the clock, we’ve got to win the game,” Jones said after the game, per NFL.com. “Everybody in here gets paid to do a job and that’s what everybody needs to do.”
Asked if Nugent — who also missed three field goals in a Week 2 win over the Atlanta Falcons — should be replaced, Jones didn’t mince words.
“I didn’t say that, but I said everybody gets paid to do a job,” he said. “So perform and do your job, that’s all I’m saying.”
Nugent is 11-for-17 on field-goal attempts on the season. The most misses Nugent had in a season were seven back in 2007 with the New York Jets. He had made more than 80 percent of his attempts in each of his past three seasons with the Bengals and missed a combined eight kicks on 45 combined tries in 2012 and 2013.
The Bengals have failed to win the past two games after starting 3-0 prior to the bye week, but Jones and the defense also are to blame with 936 yards and 80 points allowed in this 0-1-1 stretch.
