Hawaii RB Joey Iosefa arrested on suspicion of drunken driving
Hawaii RB Joey Iosefa was arrested Sunday morning after the Warriors’ win against Wyoming on suspicion of drunken driving.
Per Hawaii News Now, Iosefa’s blood-alcohol level was allegedly twice the legal limit at .155. He was arrested at approximately 4:15 a.m. near downtown Honolulu and released on $500 bail.
Iosefa didn’t play against Wyoming. He’s been out of action since he suffered a fractured foot against Oregon State. In two games this season he has 49 carries for 197 yards and four touchdowns. He has half of Hawaii’s total rushing touchdowns.
Steven Lakalaka has become the Warriors’ leading rusher in Iosefa’s absence. Lakalaka has 110 carries for 446 yards.
Iosefa has a November court date for the charge. Hawaii athletic director Ben Jay told KHON2 that any disciplinary action for Iosefa would be announced at Tuesday’s practice.
Even though he missed seven games because of a foot injury in 2013, Iosefa was the team’s leading rusher last season. He had 126 carries for 509 yards and five touchdowns.
