Georgia’s Gurley returns to practice despite ban
Georgia running back Todd Gurley, suspended indefinitely while the school and NCAA investigate potential memorabilia-related violations, joined his Bulldog teammates on the practice field Monday.
Gurley has not been cleared to play in a game, but in keeping him up to speed with the team the coaching staff can feel comfortable working him back into the lineup as soon as a decision is reached regarding his future.
With Gurley sidelined, freshman running back Nick Chubb carried the ball 38 times (a season-high for Georgia running backs) for 143 yards and a touchdown in a dominant 34-0 win at Missouri.
Gurley is one of the most productive individual players in the country, but right now Georgia could use any of its running backs back in the rotation. Keith Marshall (sprained ankle) has not played since the Troy game last month and freshman Sony Michel suffered a broken shoulder blade against Tennessee.
Georgia has moved to the top of the SEC East standings but faces a tough test this weekend against Arkansas on the road.
