Rain likely for Game 3 of ALCS at Kansas City
Rain is expected to have an impact on Game 3 of the ALCS on Monday night. (USATSI)
The Royals beat the Orioles at Camden Yards in the first two games of the ALCS over the weekend, and now the series shifts to Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City for Games 3-5. Game 5 is if necessary, of course.
Unfortunately, the weather forecast for Game 3 on Monday night is not good. As of 9:15 a.m. ET, there is a 100 percent chance of rain in Kansas City from approximately 5 p.m. through 2 a.m. local time. Here is the hourly breakdown from weather.com:
The rain is not expected to stop until Tuesday morning. The weather is expected to be pleasant and playable the rest of the week in Kansas City.
If Game 3 is postponed, the Royals and Orioles would make it up on Thursday’s scheduled travel day, if necessary. The makeup game would be a moot point if the Royals win Tuesday and Wednesday. A postponement would force both teams to use either their fifth starter at some point in the series or start their Game 3 starter on short rest in a potential Game 7.
Rain was expected to impact Game 1 of the ALCS last Friday, but it cleared out of Baltimore in time and they played the game as scheduled with no interruption. Let’s hope that will be the case again for Game 3.
