Texas Tech WR Devin Lauderdale scores first two career TDs with name misspelled on jersey (Photo)
Texas Tech got off to a great start at home against West Virginia largely because of wide receiver Devin Lauderdale.
Lauderdale, a sophomore junior college transfer, caught two touchdown passes for the Red Raiders in the first quarter. There was one problem, however. Lauderdale caught the two touchdowns – the first two of his career – with his last name spelled incorrectly on the back of his jersey. Oops.
As you can see, the second ‘D’ is missing. That’s not a good look for the TTU equipment department.
Coming into the game, Lauderdale had eight catches for 100 yards in five games for the Red Raiders. He passed that yardage total Saturday in the first quarter alone with his two scores – one from 34 yards and another from 76 yards.
Lauderdale was one of 11 Texas Tech receivers to make a catch on the day, and he led the team with 116 yards on three catches. Despite his big game, West Virginia scored 17 points in the final six minutes of the game and won 37-34 on a last-second 55-yard field goal by Josh Lambert.
Maybe now that he’s making big plays on the field, Lauderdale’s name will be spelled correctly in Texas Tech’s next game against Kansas.
