Suspended Irish players unlikely to play in ’14?
The players suspended by Notre Dame because of alleged honor code violations have been reportedly wrapping up their hearings this week, but Brian Kelly said the school will not discuss the findings or results of the rulings.
According to the Chicago Tribune, none of the five players suspended — Eilar Hardy, DaVaris Daniels, Ishaq Williams, Kendall Moore and KeiVarae Russell — are expected to play in 2014.
Russell vented his frustration with the process on Instagram earlier this month, suggesting that the decision would come for all five players at the same time, sometime this week. The Notre Dame players have been allowed to train with the school’s strength coach, and can be in the school’s athletics complex, but they cannot participate in practice, games or team meetings.
The Tribune story also reports that the process may not be official for a few days, as the players will have an opporunity to appeal the results of any ruling.
Notre Dame hosts North Carolina on Saturday.
