Detroit Lions ban fan who used laser pointer from all future Ford Field events
A fan who used a laser pointer to try to distract Buffalo Bills players last Sunday has been banned from all future events at Ford Field, the Detroit Lions announced.
The fan used the laser during the Bills’ 17-14 victory over the Bills, including during a couple of field-goal attempts by the Bills kicker Dan Carpenter — once on a 50-yard miss in the third quarter and also on the 58-yard make in the final moments.
Bills head coach Doug Marrone said he saw the laser a couple of times, and quarterback Kyle Orton also noticed it during the game on the field of play.

The Lions identified the fan — who allegedly boasted of his actions on Twitter and admitted his actions to team officials — and have banned him from their stadium for life.
“Our guest behavior expectations for all Ford Field events are very high,” Lions team president Tom Lewand said. “Additionally, this occurrence was unique in that it could have affected the integrity of the game and more importantly could have jeopardized player safety.”
The Bills filed a complaint with NFL security, and the Lions helped take action along with Detroit Police and were able to find the culprit. He won’t be entering Ford Field again legally.
“All agencies involved in the investigation of this incident did an exemplary job bringing this issue to an appropriate conclusion,” Lewand said. “Our priority is to provide an enjoyable and safe environment for all our patrons at Ford Field,” Lewand continued. “The overwhelming majority of our guests are exceptional and we applaud their behavior and support.”
