On Wednesday, the Rockies announced that executive vice president and general manager Dan O’Dowd has resigned. Assistant GM Bill Geivett has also stepped down.
O’Dowd has served as GM of the Rockies since September of 1999. On his watch the Rockies won the pennant in 2007 and made the playoffs again as a wild card team in 2009. However, the team managed just two other winning seasons during his lengthy tenure.
In 2014, the Rockies lost 96 games and finished 28 games behind the first-place Dodgers.
