Thunderstruck: Angry Angels fan clubs taunting Royals fan with thunderstick
The Kansas City Royals have done an exceptional job of irritating opponents with a combination of pitching, defense and lighting speed on the bases. During the postseason, they’ve even added the pesky late-inning home run to their repertoire, which has helped them jump out to a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five ALDS against the Los Angeles Angels.
Naturally, with each triumph the Royals appear to gain confidence and maybe even another degree of swagger, if that’s still a thing. Also with each victory, Royals fans are gaining confidence right along with the team, and it would appear some of them are doing a pretty good of being irritating to opposing fans, simply by being annoying.
Case in point, after Royals center fielder Jarrod Dyson turned in their latest game-changing play in the outfield by throwing out pinch-runner Collin Cowgill to complete an 8-5 double play, the bravest Royals fan in Angel Stadium decided to taunt his Angels fan friend.
Relentless, in-your-face taunting, we might add. To the point where TBS cameras seemed to focus on them hoping to catch the Angels fan retaliating.
Sure enough, we got our payoff. The Angels fan turned to the Royals fans, and with several compact swings of his thundersticks, put him back in his place.
At least temporarily. Who knows how he reacted following Eric Hosmer’s go-ahead homer in the 11th, but we’re guessing the Angels fans was even angrier at that point.
But here’s the irony. He used Thundersticks — also known as thin plastic balloons created to make loud, annoying noises — to exact his revenge and silence his friend. Thundersticks, the one prop baseball fans across the board will tell you is the worst thing ever allowed into a major league stadium, were his weapon of convenience.
In other words, there were no real winners in this scenario. Just a lot of aggravation and discontent.
