Big League Stew’s 2014 MLB postseason predictions
Now that those one-game wild cards are finished, the MLB postseason is left with eight teams, four in each league, that are ready to dig into multi-games series.
The playoff field is wide open. Some people think the L.A. teams are going to own the postseason this year, while others are predicting a D.C. vs. Baltimore World Series. The Giants are back in the playoffs and it’s an even year, so they could go on a run. The Royals are the Cinderellas. The Tigers are always good, so are the Cardinals.
The Stew’s David Brown, Mike Oz and Mark Townsend are here to offer up our annual predictions, and we’re thrilled to have Yahoo Sports’ MLB columnists Tim Brown and Jeff Passan joining us. We’re not just picking the series winners and ultimate World Series champ, we’re also trying to name which team will disappoint, which star won’t, who might be a surprise hero and so on.
If you don’t recognize some of the faces above:
• MVPs: Chris Tillman, Jayson Werth, Bryce Harper, Werth, Matt Kemp
• Stars Who Won’t Disappoint: Bryce Harper, Albert Pujols, Max Scherzer, David Price, Mike Trout
• Stars Who Slumps: Yadier Molina, Yasiel Puig, Mike Trout, Hanley Ramirez, Nelson Cruz
• Most Dominant Pitchers: Jordan Zimmermann, Stephen Strasburg, Clayton Kershaw, Strasburg, Kershaw
Add your own predictions in the comments, or just tell us how wrong we are. You first, Cardinals fans.
